FAQ

Questions educators ask before visiting the lab

TeachWithAI occupies an unusual space in Canadian education — part research studio, part professional development environment, part prototyping workshop. The answers below clarify what we are, how we work, and what you can expect when you engage with our Kamloops innovation lab.

We compiled this FAQ from conversations with school district leaders, post-secondary faculty, instructional designers, and education technology specialists who visited our Lansdowne Street studio or enquired about programmes remotely. If your question is not covered here, please contact us — we respond within two business days.

Our FAQ is presented as a static editorial layout rather than an accordion because we believe educators benefit from scanning related questions together. Many of the topics below connect — understanding what an innovation lab is, for example, shapes how you evaluate our programmes and services.

About the lab

What type of education provider is TeachWithAI?

TeachWithAI is an independent AI education innovation lab based in Kamloops, British Columbia. We are not a university, college, or government-accredited degree-granting institution. Our programmes focus on professional development, curriculum prototyping, and experimental learning for educators and institutional teams. We do not confer academic credentials, transfer credits, or regulated teaching certifications. Participants who complete our programmes receive lab documentation and project portfolios — not degrees or diplomas.

What is an AI education innovation lab?

An innovation lab is a dedicated space where educators design, test, and refine new approaches to teaching and learning with artificial intelligence. Unlike traditional workshops that deliver fixed content, our lab provides infrastructure, methodology, and peer collaboration for open-ended experimentation — with structured ethical review and documented outcomes. Think of it as a studio where hypotheses are tested in real learning contexts, failures are recorded as carefully as successes, and every programme emerges from hands-on practice rather than vendor presentations.

Where is the lab located?

Our studio is at 450 Lansdowne Street, Suite 208, Kamloops, BC V2C 1Y3. Kamloops sits at the geographic centre of British Columbia, making the lab accessible to educators from the BC Interior, the Lower Mainland, Alberta, and the Prairies. Most lab work happens in person, though selected components may be available in hybrid formats for participants travelling from outside the region.

How does TeachWithAI differ from a university extension programme?

University extension programmes typically deliver established curricula toward continuing education credits. TeachWithAI does not grant credits or credentials. Instead, we provide a research-forward environment where educators prototype new approaches — immersive learning environments, curriculum architectures, virtual teaching assistants — and document their findings in open lab reports. Our focus is innovation methodology and experimental practice, not accredited coursework.

What are the six innovation tracks?

Our lab organises work into six tracks: Immersive Learning Environments, Curriculum Architecture, Teaching Assistant Prototyping, Knowledge Simulation, Future Classroom Design, and Ethics & Governance. Each track represents a distinct research corridor. Participants may enter through a single track or combine experiences depending on institutional goals. Track six — ethics and governance — runs parallel to all other tracks to ensure innovations meet Canadian legal and ethical standards.

Participation & programmes

Who can participate in lab programmes?

Our programmes welcome K–12 educators, post-secondary faculty, instructional designers, school administrators, and education technology specialists from across Canada. Some residencies are designed for institutional teams of three to six participants. Individual educators are welcome in foundation and studio programmes. No prior AI expertise is required — curiosity, a clear learning challenge, and commitment to ethical practice matter more than technical background.

Are programmes delivered in person or online?

Most lab work happens in person at our Kamloops studio, where access to prototyping equipment, immersive environment booths, and collaborative review spaces is essential. Selected components — guest lectures, peer reviews, and documentation sessions — may be available in hybrid or remote formats. Contact us to discuss options for participants travelling from outside the BC Interior. We do not offer fully online equivalents of our studio-intensive programmes.

How do I book a lab tour?

Lab tours are available by appointment for educators, administrators, and community partners. Tours typically last 45 to 60 minutes and include walkthroughs of our prototyping workstations, curriculum design studio, immersive environment booths, and future classroom prototype zone. Submit a contact form with the subject "Lab tour enquiry" or call us at +1 (778) 555-3916 to schedule a visit.

Does TeachWithAI work with school districts and institutions?

Yes. We partner with school districts, colleges, and education technology organisations on pilot projects, innovation residencies, and executive briefings. Institutional engagements include dedicated studio time, technical support, ethical review facilitation, and documentation for leadership stakeholders. Partnerships are scoped individually — contact us with your institutional challenge and we will propose an appropriate engagement model.

How does TeachWithAI handle privacy and data?

We align our practices with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. Participant data collected during programmes is used only for programme delivery, documentation, and communication. We do not sell personal information. Learner data used in pilot testing requires explicit consent frameworks developed in collaboration with participating institutions. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
